Taking things seriously

I’ve been doing an incredible amount of thinking, praying, and reading today.. I have these really REALLY strong feelings going around inside me and I haven’t quite figured them out yet.

I feel that if time goes on, everything will start falling into place.. that could be within a few months, or maybe a few years.. Stronger than that though, I feel that I have the opportunity to start making things happen now. That I’ve been given the talents and the abilities to MAKE things happen and.. if I can do it when things are relatively easy and I don’t HAVE to do it.. well.. then that would be good :).

Why should I have to wait till things get difficult to prove what I’m capable of? Why should God have to allow something to mess things up in my life before I start taking things seriously?

You hear all the time about these powerful life changes that take place after a near-death experience.. Well uhh.. I shouldn’t have to have one of those.

I’ve been blessed in so many ways its rediculous, and with those blessings come an enormous responsibility.. Its time I start taking that responsibility serious and allow that to reflect in my life.

What’s all that mean?

Well.. I’m not completely sure yet :). I’ve decided that the MOST important thing for me, in my life, is my personal relationship with God. That’s right.. that’s what it ALL boils down too.. that’s what I believe and that’s gone to my very core.. Its SO easy to get caught up in the hundreds of doctrines out there… to become divided by the thousands of theories, the split hairs. If I tried doing that, I’d lose it all, snap.. and fail. So I’m not going there.

I’m going to work on my relationship with God, whom I believe is the source of all the blessings in my life, and who has entrusted me with my talents and abilities. I’m going to strive to always put him first, and involve him in EVERYTHING. That means allowing the example he set for us in the Bible to become a part of my life, to be reflected through my life..

Know what? Its not easy..

Even just speaking of things like that, I am brought aware of the many MANY areas of my life that need work. If I allowed myself to dwell on my problems, I would again snap, and fail. So I’m going to dwell on God and what he’s done for me.

I may get a lot of flack for it.. and that’s ok. Its worth it :).

So.. what happens tomorrow?

Well, that’s a great question :). As soon as I finish this post and brush my teeth, I’m going to work on my rough plan. I’ll be up around 4-5:30 for a hot/cold shower, worship, and then start my day.

Tomorrow I’ll be working on a few of the things that are very important in my life right now.. those include:

  1. Youthcove – Ahh Youthcove.. (www.youthcove.com for those of you who don’t know yet ;).. This is something that I’ve felt such a strong calling for and so far, I haven’t followed through. Youthcove is about providing a community for young entrepreneurs, a way for people to meet each other, to make new friends, and to get the support they need. Its also about providing the tools for those who have what it takes to actually start DOING things.. When I got started at 15, that’s all I needed.. I needed someone to point me in the right direction! I needed a guide, people who believed in me.. ANYTHING.So I’ve got a bunch of surprises in store for YC.. things are really going to start happening :). I’m going to do a lot of thinking about that tomorrow as I put my thoughts into words and share them with the community.. then things will start to happen. Action will create action and in this case, I’m creating action by example.
  2. Aimee’s projects – I’ll be doing a lot of work on Aimee’s stuff tomorrow. She has her own personal website that I’ll be working on, as well as websites for a few of her friends. That’s right up my alley and it’ll be really good experience for me :).
  3. Hostingfrog – Yeah, gotta be working on my hosting business :). I’ve been really blessed with that business and there’s NO reason it shouldn’t already be soaring. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet, but action leads to action, as I’m learning oh so well.. so I’m going to make something happen :).

What else will I be doing tomorrow.. hmmm.. have to wait and see I guess :).

Had a few cool things happen today..

  1. Had an awesome talk with my girlfriend – Not that that’s anything new, but its always still really cool ;). We’ve grown closer and closer together these past few months, especially the past month. We’re both going through a lot, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically. Today was a really cool day for us to just spend some time together.
  2. Went to an all black church – Now that was just awesome.. hehe! I haven’t had that many handshakes in one day in a LONG time. I went to church there and stayed for lunch.. met a TON of people. It was a huge blessing for me and I’m looking forward to going back next Sabbath. I love the music!
  3. Got a credit card – AMAZING! Yes! I FINALLY have my own credit card! I won’t have it HERE personally for a few more days, but I’ve got it! Its miiine! Yes.. time to use it responsibility ;).

So all and all today was a really good day! NOWW its time for me to get off to bed and get ready for tomorrow! Got lots and lots to do :).

God bless!

Lots and lots of thinking.. and then deciding its time to make things happen.. and then starting to do JUST that! :)

Converting to MSN?

Oh horror of horrors.. how can it be? A devout google fan for nigh on 2 years now and I’m starting to lean towards MSN’s new beta search and the new desktop search? This is incredible!

I’m not about to become a ‘Microsoft’ only convert.. what’s got me going right now is results. Other than the really handy page rank viewer (which is still important to me) there isn’t a big reason for me to keep using the Google toolbar.

I’m getting ready to give the new MSN Desktop Search a try and I’ll let you guys know how that goes compared to Google. Since I’m using Outlook, integration is very important with me, so I’ll be very curious to see how that works out!

Matt and I will continue talking about this in the future.. I’m still a solid google fan, but its quite hard to ignore the results I’ve been getting with MSN’s beta search. We’ll see how things turn up.

One of the COOLEST things I find about all this is that MSN is ACTIVELY listening to its users. They’re running blogs and newsgroups AND, they’re really paying attention. We’ll see if they take some of my suggestions.. when I make them ;).

Alright, enough for now.. If you wanna check it out, click the nice little picture below :).

In other news..

Today was a really cool day.. I went down to the beach! Yup.. Aimee let me borrow her bike and I went off for a nice multi-mile ride through Venice and Santa Monica! THAT was a ton of fun.. even if the bike was purple and soo not a guy’s bike.. hehe :P. I got a bunch of excersise and got a really good feel for the sites.. I look forward to going back!

I did a bunch of work on www.jonathanwold.com today.. that was really cool :).

And finally, got my room a bit more situated! The drum set went out and we put a futon which doubles as a bed on in.. Now I have a bed annnd.. its calling me! Time for sleeep young one!

Off I go :)

Goodnight world!

First day in LA

And now the end of my first day in LA! Its been a long one and a great one!

I slept in till a whopping 10 AM this morning, so much for up at 5 ;). My girlfriend called me around 6 or so and we talked for awhile before she headed off for the day.. I can barely remember what we talked about, I just distinctly remember waking up and only not being grumpy ‘cuz it was her ;).

Aimee (I’ve got her name right this time) spent a lot of time in town today and so I spent most of my time catching up on business. I put a bunch of work into Hostingfrog this afternoon and FINALLY got a list of all my clients ready and sent it on over to Derek for adding into our billing software.

Talked with Daniel, a young man I did some CSS work for awhile back. He’s buying me a REALLY nice headset in return and he got that taken care of on Amazon.com this afternoon. Go Daniel! Thanks buddy! :)

I spent some time on my favorite homeschooling website at http://www.the-ri.com ! They’ve got a ton of awesome things over there, the biggest deal being that its a community of homeschoolers who are a LOT like me. What’s that mean? Well.. we’re all crazy and we love it :). I feel like I’m completely at home over there, its great! I spent some time there this evening and I plan to go back tomorrow night and hang out for awhile, maybe do some creative writing!

Tomorrow I’m gonna have to figure out my church situation, that should be interesting! I’ll check around for local churches and see how things go :).

I talked with my brother this evening and helped him out with his new website project.. www.hisyouth.com. He’s doing a VERY nice job! He asked for my help and then said he’d show me he was serious and I could decide from there whether or not I would help. He designed an awesome navigation bar and I’m going to help him convert the site to PHP and CSS later on :).

Alright, now I’m gonna go ahead and get ready for bed. I don’t have a bed setup in here yet so I’ll get rolling on that and if I don’t do that tonight, there’s always tomorrow :).

Goodnight world!

Arrival in LA

I’m writing after only 4 or so sketchy hours of sleep, so I’m exhausted.. Completely exhausted.

I was up at 3:30 AM this morning, took a shower, got ready, and Brian and I were off to the airport. We took his grandmother with us, who had a flight at 6 AM. Mine wasn’t till 11:10. After hanging out for a bit together, Brian dropped me off and away I went.

Had a couple of cool talks with people in the airport and on the plane. I was reminded how badly I need to get new business cards :P. They asked and I ended up putting ’em on pieces of paper.. not cool!

I arrived in LA today and so far things have gone incredibly well. I’m working with a lady named Amae (I believe I spelt that right?). My main project while down here in LA is her personal website. She’s a very talented and gifted musician/artist. The focus of the website will be around her works, including music and art.

One of the many cool things about Amae is that she’s a vegetarian, who is slowly working towards Vegan. On top of that, she’s an excellent cook! One of our first stops was to a local health food store called “Trader Joe’s”.. We picked up a ton of awesome health foods and man.. if I wasn’t hungry before I went in there, I sure was afterwards :).

That afternoon Amae helped me make lunch and showed me just how little I know about all that stuff.. lack of experience :P. I’ll be learning a LOT while I’m here.

Anyways, I’m exhausted.. tomorrow I have a bunch of work to do with Hostingfrog and with my web design business. Also have unpacking to do and some organizing to go through :).

Goodnight world,

Arriving in LA :).

Singing in the rain

Today was very interesting ;). Being my last day, we decided that we were gonna do some crazy things.. Well, ‘we’ being my friend Jessi and I. So, we got a bunch of our friends together at the local starbucks sharply at 1 PM and thus began the craziness.

It started with only 4 of us, Brian, Jessi, Brian (yeah, two of ’em), and then me :). We played a game called silent football for awhile, which is an EXTREMELY funny game.. You’re passing this invisible football around, and when you talk you cannot show your teeth nor can you ever laugh ;). Yeah, try it..

Then we played this story writing game for the next hour or so.. Where each of us contributed to a story, without knowing what the other had written. That was SO funny and it was strange how well some of the stories fit.

Then a few more people showed up and we had an AWESOME round of silent football, all in the middle of starbucks.. (poor guys ;)..

OH yes, before the extra people showed up.. Jessi, Brian (number two), and I decided we were gonna do some unique. We walked up and down mainstreet placerville and wished over 21 people “An awesome day!” and shook their hand! It was GREAT! We even walked into a tatoo parlor and shook the guy’s hand.. hehe!

THEN, a few hours later, we began the scavenger hunt. Everyone wrote down two things that you had to do.. and they had to be weird, but doable. As I remember them, this is what we had:

1. Walk into Jireh’s bookstore and ask them what the name meant I got that one and did it very nicely, the guy told me and we had a very nice brief chat

2. Run through a parking lot shouting.. “I’m free! I’m free!” .. 3 timesJessi got that one and ran through 3 parking lots, doing a fine job ;).

3. Wear Jessi’s big furry white bootsBrian 2 got that one and wore them into Rite-aid.. we got pictures.. he did very well ;)

4. Walk up to someone and wish them a Merry ChristmasBrian got that one as well.. He walked up to an older lady in Raleys and wished her a merry christmas.. she smiled and wished him one back!

5. Go through a drivethrough and order a glass of water.. while singing “You are my sunshine”..I got that one.. and I drove Jessi’s car, ordered my drink at Taco Bell while singing, and picked up the drink while singing.. I never spoke.. just sang.. yeah ;)

6. Walk up to someone and ask them for 50 centsEmily got this one and did a fine job :)

7. Walk up to an older lady and compliment her hair, then ask where she got it doneEmily got this one and I tell ya, she’s good.. She walked up to an older lady and they had a very nice short chat.. That took a lot.. GO EMILY :)

8. Stand on the courthouse steps and sing the National Anthem!Brian originally got this one and then wimped out on us, so Jessi and I decided to do it. We crossed the street, took our places, and burst out into song.. Yeah, we didn’t know the whole thing, and we started by singing each other’s voices, which sounded kinda strange.. but wow.. We got a few positive honks and a guy said we were good! but.. he wouldn’t give us any money :P. We got pictures.. that was a TON of fun!

And that’s ABOUT it.. We came back and hung around for a little while before heading off and back for home.

Now I’m off to get some food and then head off with Brian for a 7 PM meeting in town with a doctor regarding the mission trip. Goodbye world! Once I get back I have packing to do!
